Synopsis
"Somewhere, but not Here” follows the journey of Karel, a Lebanese immigrant stranded in Toronto, as she helplessly watches her homeland Lebanon slowly collapsing from afar. Stuck between two time zones, Karel finds herself teetering on the edge of despair. As her perceptions of the world drastically change, Karel must find the light again...
"Somewhere, but not Here" premiered at the 5th Toronto Arab Film Festival in 2024 and received the Jury's Honorable Mention for Best Canadian Short Film.
It is set to screen at Beirut Shorts International Film Festival - Official Selection, in November 2025.
